1950 Atmosfera is specified by its base. The chair comes either on a mocha-stained oak frame or on fabric-covered ash feet — two genuinely different objects from the same upholstered body. The oak version shows its structure; the fabric-covered version hides it and reads as one continuous volume.

Above the base, the shape is deliberately full and unbroken, with a foam seat on a suspended base. The fullness is what makes the choice of foot matter so much: it is the only place the chair declares anything.
