Our parent house, Niche, opened in 2008 as a Beverly Hills destination for considered, design-led living — a curated retailer for those who furnish with intent.
In 2022 we opened the Melaaura showroom and brand — no longer only a retailer, but a maker. Under one roof with Niche, we became a furniture house designing and crafting our own custom pieces.
We build with two materials, each chosen for where it belongs and sourced from the one place on earth that does it best.
Our outdoor collections are built from plantation teak grown in Indonesia, the wood's spiritual home. Dense, golden and rich with natural oils, it is made to weather decades of sun, rain and salt — softening, never failing.
Indoors, we work in Italian lavastone — quarried from the slopes of Mount Etna and hand-glazed in enamel by Sicilian artisans. Each surface is fired to a one-of-a-kind tableau of colour: impervious, eternal, and unlike anything mass-made.
Every commission begins in our design studio. Photoreal 2D and 3D renderings let you walk through your rooms — indoor and out — before a single piece is made. Nothing is left to imagination, and nothing arrives as a surprise.
