9730 Profile treats a shelf as a picture frame. Each unit is bounded on all four sides, so whatever is set inside is framed and presented rather than simply stored.

The frames are finished in satin or polished brass. Satin holds the object as the subject; polished brass competes with it, and is the choice when the shelf itself is meant to be the ornament.
