About Cuvee Lounge Chair
Designed by Jamela Alawneh for Melaaura, the Cuvee Lounge Chair is the collection’s signature piece — a chair-and-a-half proportioned for true lounging, woven entirely by hand in natural rattan. Its name borrows from the winemaker’s cuvee, a blend of the very best, and the chair blends two weaving languages in one frame: dense, closely wrapped cane on the flared arms and sides, and airy rows of vertical spindles that ring the backrest crown and the double-banded plinth below.
The silhouette flares gently outward from the base like the bowl of a glass, giving the chair a grounded, architectural presence while the openwork keeps it visually light — sunlight passes straight through the spindle galleries. The generous seat holds a deep knife-edge cushion and a pair of loose scatter pillows in the collection’s watercolour botanical print: leaf greens, terracotta, ochre and dusty blue over ivory.
The frame is finished in a pale honey tone that deepens gracefully with age, and the cushions are upholstered over high-resilience foam with feather-soft wrap for an inviting, sink-in sit. Intended for indoor and covered lounge settings.
