About Morbido 3-Seater Sofa

Designed by Jamela Alawneh for Melaaura, the Morbido 3-seater sofa is the most complete expression of what the Morbido collection sets out to achieve: the precise point at which architectural structure and genuine physical comfort become the same thing, each reinforcing the other until neither can be imagined without it. At full three-seat width, this is a sofa that commands the room it inhabits, not through scale alone, but through the quiet authority of a design that knows exactly what it is and makes no concessions in becoming it.

The frame extends the language established in the Morbido lounge chair to a form of considerably greater presence. Solid teak spans the full width of the sofa in a single, unbroken horizontal platform base, while the arms rise at either end in the same flat-faced, right-angled form, wide, structurally expressive, and composed with the kind of precision that rewards viewing from every angle. Seen from the front, the teak frame creates a clean rectangular surround that holds the cushioned interior in geometric definition. Seen from the side, the depth of the arms and the low profile of the base reveal a silhouette of genuine architectural ambition,a sofa that could hold its own in a space designed around the most considered contemporary furniture. The natural grain of the teak runs warm and varied across every surface of the frame, introducing the organic depth and tactile richness that only genuine solid timber provides, and that only improves with time and use.

Within that teak surround, the cushions make their own statement. Three individual seat cushions span the full width of the sofa in clean, equal proportion, each thick enough to deliver the kind of deep, settled comfort that makes a three-hour evening feel like twenty minutes. Three corresponding backrest cushions rise behind them, generously tall, softly filled, and set at an angle that supports the spine without imposing a posture, inviting the body to relax fully rather than hold itself upright. In white, the cushions read against the honey warmth of the teak with the same composed, luminous contrast found throughout the Morbido range — a pairing that is as timeless as it is immediately striking, and that adapts with equal ease to coastal interiors flooded with natural light, to restrained contemporary living rooms where the sofa is the room’s primary material statement, and to richly layered spaces where the clean white and warm timber provide a grounding note of calm.

The three-seat format makes the Morbido sofa the natural anchor of any seating composition, paired with the Morbido lounge chair for a cohesive living room arrangement, used alone as the defining piece of a more minimal space, or deployed in a hospitality setting where scale, material quality, and visual authority are all equally required. Made to order, with cushion fabric available across a range of options from crisp performance whites to warmer naturals and earthy tones, allowing the sofa to be tailored precisely to the palette and mood of the space it will inhabit.
