35 Waves is offered two ways from the same shell: upholstered plain, or upholstered with a linear quilt worked across the seat and back. The geometry underneath does not change — the quilting is what shifts the piece from quiet to patterned.

The seat is foam, which is what makes the quilting hold its lines; a softer fill would blur them. Simple outer shapes are paired with more articulated internal geometry, so the sofa is plainer at a distance than it is close up.

Designed by Gianluigi Landoni. The plain version suits a room that is already busy; the quilted version earns its place where the upholstery is meant to be the pattern in the room.
