9235 Chignon is built in stacked layers. In the ring version it is made up in two or three tiers, each set above the last, so the pouf grows in height by adding rings rather than by being made taller.

Underneath sits a solid polished brass base — a hard, bright element deliberately placed under a soft coiled form. It is the only rigid part of the piece.
