About Machard Table

Introducing the Machard Table by Flou, a sculptural centrepiece that goes beyond the conventions of the dining table.

Designed by Studio Contromano, the Machard is a table that announces itself through its base. A densely woven cage of fine cords, gathered and pinched at the waist like a lantern in tension, forms a pedestal of remarkable visual complexity. Up close, the craftsmanship reveals itself fully, each cord taut, each line deliberate, the whole structure holding together with an almost architectural logic.

Above it, a wide oval top in dark burnished finish sits with calm authority. Its surface is smooth and expansive, offering generous room for gathering while its warm bronze-grey tone draws warmth from the woven base beneath. The contrast between the solidity of the top and the open, threaded structure of the pedestal is the defining tension of the piece and entirely the point.

The Machard is a table designed to be the conversation rather than merely the setting for one. It works equally well at the heart of a dining room as it does anchoring an open-plan living space or a generous terrace. Its round form encourages proximity and ease, no head of the table, no hierarchy, just the pleasure of being gathered around something beautiful.

As part of Flou’s vision for living beyond the bedroom, the Machard introduces a fresh perspective on material contrast and artisanal craft. It is not merely a table; it is an embodiment of the belief that the pieces we eat beside, work at, and linger over deserve the same care as those we sleep in.
