314 A Round starts as a plain cylinder and is then modified twice: the top surface flares outward, and a brass ring is set around the base. Those two moves are the entire design.

The flare gives a seat that is wider than the body beneath it, which makes a small pouf comfortable to actually sit on rather than only rest feet against. The brass ring lifts it visually off the floor.
