9090 Aria sets a round top on a carved timber trunk. The base is worked rather than turned — the surface keeps the marks of being shaped, so it reads as a section of tree rather than a manufactured column.

Against that, the top is cut thin and flat. The contrast between a heavy irregular base and a light regular disc is the whole design; neither element would hold up alone.
