Designed by Jamela Alawneh for Melaaura, the Majlis Modular Square Sofa takes its name — and its posture — from the majlis, the low seating room at the heart of Arab hospitality. A generous square cushion rests on a recessed solid teak plinth, holding the seat just 38 cm off the ground so conversation stays relaxed, informal and close.

Each module is a complete seat in itself and a building block for something larger. Weighted back bolsters simply rest on the platform, so they can be moved, turned into a corner, or removed entirely to open the seat from every side. Grouped with the Modular Wave and Sun Lounge platforms, the squares compose deep lounge islands, corner arrangements and face-to-face majlis settings without any fixing hardware.

The upholstery is a weather-resistant bouclé over high-resilience foam, tailored with clean knife edges; the plinth is cut from solid Grade A teak that silvers gracefully outdoors. Suitable for covered outdoor and indoor use alike.
