Setting
In Hohenschwangau, Germany, the Ameron Neuschwanstein Alpsee Resort & Spa sits in one of Bavaria’s most recognized landscapes, right at the foot of Neuschwanstein Castle. The setting is immediate and unmistakable. And it’s not treated as a postcard backdrop, but as the starting point for the interiors.
The project draws its cues from what guests see outside: the Alpsee lake, the changing light, the grounded feel of the region. The design keeps that connection close, without turning it into a theme.
Design Approach
Landau + Kindelbacher shaped the entrance hall, restaurants, and rooms with a clear, honest palette. Floors in natural stone set the base. Wooden planks add warmth. Black steel brings structure, while linen and felt soften the overall feel. It’s a straightforward combination, but it reads as deliberate.
Nothing feels overworked. Materials are allowed to look like themselves. And that restraint gives the spaces an easy authenticity that suits a resort setting, where comfort needs to feel natural from the first step inside.
Atmosphere and Color
The lobby sets the tone with intense shades of blue, gray, and ocher. These colors echo the surrounding landscape without copying it. They also give the public areas a quiet energy, especially against the tactile mix of stone, wood, and textiles.
The result is an atmosphere that feels both cozy and modern. Not flashy, not overly minimal. Just composed, with enough depth to stay interesting over time.
Furnishing Selection
In the lobby, Meridiani pieces anchor the seating areas with calm confidence. Belmon sofas and Cecile armchairs are used to support the way the space works: places to pause, to meet, to wait, to settle in after arriving. The shapes feel refined, but not precious.
Meridiani fits naturally into this project because the design language stays understated and resilient. It’s the kind of comfort that doesn’t ask for attention. But it holds it, quietly, in the Ameron Neuschwanstein Alpsee Resort & Spa.
