About Spacey Portable Lamp
Design
The Spacey Lunar Portable Lamp from Lasvit takes the pure sphere and gives it a quiet, magnetic presence. It doesn’t compete for attention, it earns it. The surface reveals shifting depths that feel almost cosmic, achieved through lithyalin, a historical glassmaking technique that suggests gemstone while remaining unmistakably glass. Czech designer Lukáš Novák revives this 200-year-old method in its home region of Northern Bohemia, bringing heritage into a focused, contemporary form.
Materials & Build
This piece pairs lithyalin glass in the Lunar expression with a polished brass frame. The glass carries visual layers and natural swirls; no two look exactly the same. That individuality is part of the appeal. As with all handmade glass, subtle bubbles and shade variations may appear—they’re not flaws, they’re the signature of the process.
The brass base adds a calm glow and a reassuring counterweight to the sphere. Finish and junctions are clean, the silhouette kept intentional. Offered in a single, distilled shape, it feels considered rather than complicated.
Comfort
Light from Spacey is gentle and unforced, the kind that settles a room rather than taking it over. It’s easy to live with—portable by design, simple to place, and quick to make an atmosphere feel more composed. When the day winds down, it gives a soft anchor for the eye. When the room is busy, it stays composed and clear.
Placement & Lifestyle
It sits easily on a side table, nightstand, or console. Works in a reading nook as well as a study, and moves when the layout shifts. One looks confident on its own; a pair frames a space without clutter. The mix of lithyalin glass and polished brass lands well across interiors—modern, transitional, or a more collected look. It’s a small object with presence, not volume.
Longevity
There’s durability in the choice of materials and in the restraint of the form. Brass keeps its character and will develop a quiet patina; it can be refreshed or left to mellow. The glass is sturdy and its color runs through, not applied on top. And because lithyalin is a craft with history, it ages with context, not trend. The Spacey Lunar Portable Lamp is the kind of lighting that stays useful, looks composed over time, and continues to feel right where it lives.
