Black Tie D90 Side table

About Black Tie D90 Side table

Design

The Black Tie D90 side table by Capital is all about clear geometry and balance. Designed by Capital Creative Lab in 2017 for the Service Tables collection, it brings a quiet Modernist attitude into the room. The circular top, about 35.4 inches across, sits low at roughly 17.7 inches high, so the piece reads as calm and composed rather than imposing.

The silhouette is stripped back, yet considered. Nothing feels decorative for its own sake. Lines stay clean, the round plane appears to float, and the base keeps a discreet profile. The result is a table that works easily with generous sofas or more slender lounge seating, without fighting for attention.

Materials & Build

A solid wooden frame anchors the structure and carries the weight of the glass top. This glass is back-painted in a lacquered finish, giving the surface a uniform, opaque look while keeping the crisp edge of glass. It feels refined but not fragile in attitude, ready for daily use rather than just show.

Metal feet complete the base, lifting the wood just enough off the floor and adding a subtle shift in texture. At about 70.5 pounds, the table has real presence and stability. Finishes are kept focused: wood, glass, and metal, assembled with the kind of precision expected from Capital.

Comfort in Use

The Black Tie D90 is sized to sit comfortably beside a sofa, lounge chair, or low bench. The 17.7-inch height keeps drinks, books, or a laptop within easy reach without feeling cramped. And because the top is round, there is no wrong side; it welcomes use from any angle around the seating area.

The smooth lacquered glass surface feels cool to the touch and wipes clean with minimal effort. It invites everyday use, from a morning coffee to evening cocktails, without any fuss about where things should be placed.

Placement & Lifestyle

This side table slips naturally into contemporary spaces but also sits well in more mixed interiors. It can stand alone as a single accent piece or be used as a pair flanking a sofa for a more structured layout. The round profile helps soften straight-lined furniture and corners, easing the flow of a living room or lounge.

Its footprint, matching width and depth at about 35.4 inches, offers generous surface area while still feeling compact. In a residential setting or a refined reception area, the table reads as discreetly luxurious, supporting the room rather than dominating it.

Longevity

The straightforward combination of wood, glass, and metal gives the Black Tie D90 a long functional life. The weighted structure resists tipping, while the lacquered back-painted glass keeps the color layer protected beneath the surface. It is built to remain steady and composed through daily routines.

Introduced in 2017, the design still feels current because it avoids excess. Capital leans on proportion and clarity instead of trends, so the table continues to slot easily into evolving interiors. With proper care, it is the kind of piece that can move from one space to the next and still look at home.
