About Black Tie D70 Side table
Design
The Black Tie D70 side table sits in the room with quiet confidence. Designed by Capital Creative Lab for the 2017 Service Tables collection, it follows a clear, Modernist line. The round top, about 27.6 inches in diameter (70 cm), rests on a measured wooden frame that keeps the profile clean and unobtrusive. No unnecessary elements, just balanced proportions.
At 21.7 inches high (55 cm), it aligns naturally with sofas and lounge chairs, so it never feels awkward or out of scale. The design reads as deliberate and precise, but not fussy. It simply does its job, and looks right doing it.
Materials & Build
The structure is a wooden frame that hosts a circular glass top. The glass is back-painted and finished in lacquer, so the surface feels like a single, continuous plane of color rather than transparent glazing. It gives the table a solid, defined presence without feeling heavy.
Metal-finish feet complete the base, introducing a subtle contrast to the wood. Nothing is overly decorative. Each material is used for what it does best: wood for structure, glass and lacquer for a smooth, refined surface, metal for a crisp finishing touch.
Everyday Use & Comfort
The Black Tie D70 by Capital is sized for real life. The top offers enough room for a book, a drink, and a small object or two, without dominating the seating area. At arm’s reach, it feels natural to use, whether beside a sofa or an armchair.
The lacquered glass surface is flat and consistent, ideal for setting down items without wobble. It wipes clean in a moment, which matters when the table is in constant use. The weight, around 57.3 lb (26 kg), gives it a grounded feel that stays put when moved into position.
Placement & Lifestyle
This Capital side table works well where conversation and circulation matter. In a living room, it anchors the end of a sofa or pairs neatly between two lounge chairs. In a bedroom, it can double as a compact service table by a reading chair.
Its modern minimal language blends easily into different interiors, from pared-back contemporary spaces to more layered, collected rooms. The design supports the scene rather than competing with it, which makes it adaptable over time and across settings.
Longevity
With its solid wood frame, metal-finish feet, and lacquered glass top, the Black Tie D70 is built for long-term use, not just a season. The materials are straightforward and resilient, chosen for stability and ease of care.
The form is equally considered. At approximately 27.6 by 27.6 inches (70 by 70 cm), with a compact volume of about 10.6 cubic feet (0.3 m³), it remains practical even as rooms are rearranged or refreshed. The table keeps its character as styles around it evolve, quietly earning its place in the home.
