Setting and concept
Mount Med Resort sits in Wildschönau, Austria, where the Tyrolean landscape does much of the talking. The Project is built on a clear idea: let historic Austrian structures and contemporary additions live side by side, without forcing a clean break between them. Guests move through spaces designed for medical care and wellness, with an emphasis on a holistic experience that supports both body and mind.
And it stays grounded in what’s already here. Alpine air, local plants, and the quiet presence of the mountains shape the atmosphere as much as the architecture does. The result feels intentional, not theatrical, with each area guiding the next in a way that’s easy to follow and easy to settle into.
Architecture in dialogue with nature
The architectural concept focuses on integration: materials, landscape, and building forms are treated as one system. Indoors and outdoors are connected, and the transition from past to present feels calm. Traditional elements aren’t treated as décor. They’re part of the structure and the story, while newer volumes bring clarity and comfort without competing for attention.
But the strongest move is restraint. Surfaces and tones are chosen to work with the setting, not against it. The spaces are meant to breathe, and that sense of openness carries through from the living areas to the wellness zones.
Interiors and the Meridiani selection
A healthy design approach shows up in the choices guests touch every day. In the living areas, natural fabric tones support a relaxed pace, with Meridiani’s Forrest armchairs and the James sofa setting the mood. The palette stays close to the landscape, which helps the rooms feel settled from the start.
In the wellness zones, the calm hues continue through the Claud lounge beds and Vincent chaise longues. Low tables, including the Belt and Fabien Open Air designs, add quiet structure with pure materials and refined finishes. It’s not about decoration. It’s about creating an enveloping atmosphere that holds attention softly and keeps the mountain scenery in view.
Recognition and project quality
Mount Med Resort has been recognised with numerous awards and nominations throughout 2025, a reflection of its attention to architectural detail and overall project quality. Care, wellbeing, history, design, and sustainability are not presented as separate themes. They’re woven together, and it shows in how consistent the experience feels from one space to the next.
Photography by Michael Huber Photography captures that balance clearly, from the building’s connection to the landscape to the measured presence of Meridiani pieces within the interiors.
