Grand by Capital is a bench with a quiet, confident presence. The silhouette is clean, almost architectural, with a generous seat balanced on a slim metal base. Lines stay simple, so the focus falls on proportion and surface. At about 47.2 inches wide and 22 inches deep, it offers ample seating without feeling bulky. The overall impression is contemporary, but not cold. It sits easily alongside existing pieces, adding polish without demanding attention.

The visible wood brings warmth, with an open-grain look that keeps the design from feeling flat. Nothing is overdrawn. It is a piece that feels considered rather than decorative, as expected from Boatto Martino Studio’s hand in the 2018 Benches collection.

Materials & Build

Under the upholstery, the Grand bench relies on a solid wooden frame. The structure is designed for everyday use, not just occasional seating. Above it, undeformable polyurethane foam in different densities shapes the seat. This layered approach gives both support and a more accommodating feel, instead of a single hard block of foam.

The base comes in a metal finish, adding a subtle contrast to the softness of the seat. Leather, fabric, and metal options allow the piece to move from understated to more pronounced, depending on the specification. Every element is kept visually light, but the construction is built to handle real weight, between roughly 71 and 93 pounds overall.

Comfort

Comfort on Grand is driven by its foam composition. The use of multiple densities means the bench does not collapse under weight, yet it does not feel rigid. The seat keeps its shape while still yielding enough for a relaxed sit.
