The Gala chair from Capital sits comfortably in the world of contemporary living. Its lines are clear, confident, and free of excess, giving it a quiet presence at the table. Designed in 2019 by Boatto Martino Studio, every angle and curve has been carefully studied so the chair feels visually balanced from all sides. Nothing shouts, yet nothing is generic. It reads as a modern piece that slips easily into different interiors, from warm natural schemes to cleaner, urban spaces.

Materials & Build

Behind the calm look is a solid wooden frame that gives the chair its structure and reassuring weight. At roughly 24 in wide and 24 in deep, with an overall height of about 33.5 in and a weight of around 28.7 lb, it feels substantial without being heavy-handed. Lacquered legs extend the slim profile down to the floor, keeping the silhouette light and orderly around a dining table.

The seat and back are padded with undeformable polyurethane foam in different densities, layered to stay composed over time. Finishes run from exposed wood to leather or fabric upholstery, underscoring the tailored, furniture-first approach that defines Capital’s collection.

Comfort & Proportions

Comfort here comes from proportion rather than excess volume. The seat height is about 19.25 in, which works smoothly with standard dining tables, while the armrests rise to roughly 26.75 in, giving the forearms an easy resting point without blocking movement. The studied geometry by Boatto Martino Studio allows the user to sit upright for dining, yet feel supported enough to stay on for coffee or conversation. The foam’s stability keeps the seat feeling composed, not slouchy, after repeated use.

Placement & Longevity

Gala is sized and detailed to work as a dining chair first, but its measured character suits many settings: a generous desk chair, a visitor’s chair in a home office, or a pair flanking a console. With a volume of about 17.7 ft³, it has presence without overwhelming a room. Wood, leather, or fabric finishes allow it to lean warmer or more formal as needed.

The undeformable foam and robust wooden frame are chosen with long-term use in mind. Surfaces can be selected to match the rhythm of the home, whether a more resilient leather or a favorite fabric.
