About Plisse Sculpture
Design
The Lasvit Plisse Small Sculpture translates the softness of couture into clear glass with quiet confidence. Designed by Maurizio Galante, it captures the pleated rhythm of fabric and gives it structure. The form reads as a gentle spiral, a plissé motif that seems to turn around its own axis, holding motion in a still object.
There are two shape variations. One expresses the flowing twist of pleats; the other builds presence through layered, cracked surfaces. Both feel deliberate, not decorative. Each detail serves the silhouette, keeping the piece sculptural and direct.
Materials & Build
Made in clear glass with a polished stainless steel frame, the sculpture is substantial and poised. At approximately 19.7 inches in diameter and 21.7 inches in height, it commands the space without overwhelming it. The weight—about 124 pounds—anchors the work both physically and visually, lending a reassuring stability.
The glass is handmade, so small bubbles and subtle shade variations can appear. They are not errors; they are traces of the making. And they give each piece its own nuance. The polished stainless steel keeps the profile crisp and reflective, catching light at the edges while supporting the glass with a clean, architectural line.
Presence & Feel
Though categorized within lighting, this is a sculpture that works with light rather than emitting it. Clear glass invites daylight to pass through, throwing soft shadows and faint refractions that shift as the room changes. Up close, the surface feels controlled, almost textile-like in the way the pleats read. From a distance, the silhouette is calm and assured.
Placement & Lifestyle
Plisse suits a curated entry, a living room console, or a gallery-like plinth. It sits comfortably in minimal spaces, and it adds clarity to more layered interiors. Place it where natural light can play across the glass, or near a quiet lamp for evening depth. Because of its weight, a stable, level surface is essential.
It stands well on its own, but it also pairs with restrained materials—stone, dark wood, brushed metal. The piece acts as a focal point without shouting, bringing a composed energy to the setting.
Longevity
Built from clear glass and polished stainless steel, the sculpture favors enduring materials over trend. The surface will hold its character with considerate handling, and the handmade nature ensures no two are fully alike. Over time, those slight variations become part of its appeal.
Plisse, in its Clear / Small expression, reflects the brand’s precise eye while staying honest to the designer’s intent. It is a lasting object—meant to be seen, lived with, and revisited, day after day.
