About Press Pendant
Design
The Press Base Size Pendant, designed by Nendo for Lasvit, channels a quiet rigor drawn from the Japanese Mingei movement. The idea is simple and strong: a clear glass tube is pressed until it narrows, as if gently pinched by hand. The light sits in that waist, so the form and function meet in one graceful gesture. No heavy metal mold defines it; the glass settles into its own softened silhouette, giving each piece a subtly individual look. It feels considered, not decorative for decoration’s sake. Available in two shape variations, it offers the freedom to keep a line clean or to play with a mixed arrangement.
Materials & Build
The body is handmade clear glass, pressed while hot to create that sculpted constriction. The compression yields smooth contours with natural transitions, never sharp or busy. Because the shaping happens within the glass itself, the pendant reads honest and unforced. The frame surface is finished in a glossy white lacquer (RAL 9010), a discreet counterpoint to the transparency of the shade.
Proportions stay compact and easy to place: about 3.54 inches in diameter and 17.72 inches in height, with a weight around 4.41 pounds. These dimensions keep the piece refined in profile yet present enough to hold its own over a table or counter. As with all handmade glass, slight bubbles or tone variations may appear; they’re part of the making and lend each pendant its own nuance.
Light Quality & Comfort
The pendant uses an LED E14 3W source, delivering 240 lumens with a high 95 CRI. Colors look true, edges feel calm, and the warm white tone suits evening light particularly well. Tucked into the narrowed section, the lamp is visually softened by the glass and the pinch itself. It takes the glare down a notch and spreads a gentle glow. Not flashy, just pleasant and steady—ideal for spaces that need clear light without the hard edge.
Placement & Lifestyle
On its own, the Lasvit Press Base Size Pendant marks a reading nook or entry with quiet precision. In a row, it runs cleanly over a kitchen island or bar. And above a dining table, the two shape variations can be alternated for a subtle rhythm without crowding the view. It suits residential rooms and hospitality settings alike, where clarity and restraint matter. Clear glass keeps sightlines open, so even smaller spaces feel undisturbed.
Longevity
With low power consumption and a protected placement of the light source, the piece is built for consistent, everyday use. The glass is sturdy in thickness yet refined in look, and the lacquered white frame keeps the hardware quietly resilient. Expect small visual variations in the glass—those are inherent to the process and part of its appeal. A quick dusting and an occasional wipe keep it bright. The Press Base Size Pendant by Lasvit is the kind of lighting that holds up well, both in build and in the way it lives in a room over time.
