About Otium Sofa
Design with a Clear Point of View
The Otium sofa reflects Capital’s measured, confident style. Lines are clean, the look is structured, and nothing feels fussy. At just over 118 inches wide, it holds presence without shouting for attention. The backrest forms the visual anchor, creating a sculpted silhouette that reads as contemporary but still warm enough for a lived-in space.
Designed by Boatto Martino Studio for the Sofa 2020 collection, it feels considered rather than experimental. Every element seems there for a reason, from the generous depth to the balanced proportions that sit comfortably in larger rooms.
Materials & Build
Otium is offered in leather, fabric, and metal finishes, giving the piece enough range to sit in very different interiors without losing its character. Whether in a textured fabric or a smooth leather, the structure remains the same: solid, reassuring, and clearly built to hold its form.
With a width of about 118.1 inches, height of 30.7 inches, and depth of 54.7 inches, it carries a substantial presence. At approximately 353 pounds, the sofa has a weight that suggests a strong internal frame and a grounded stance in the room.
Comfort in Everyday Use
Though it reads as a design sofa, Otium does not trade comfort for looks. The backrest is designed to support the body in a natural way, encouraging a relaxed, easy posture. It is available in right- or left-hand versions, so the seat can be oriented around how a room is actually used.
The seat height, around 16.5 inches, keeps the body at a comfortable level for both lounging and conversation. It is low enough to feel relaxed, yet not so low that standing up becomes an effort.
Placement & Lifestyle
With a volume of roughly 116.5 cubic feet, this is a sofa that belongs in open living areas, generous lounges, or a large loft-style space. It works as a primary seating statement rather than a secondary piece. The depth invites longer stays, whether for solitary reading or evening gatherings.
In a more minimal interior, Otium becomes the main architectural feature. In a layered space, it quietly supports the mix, providing a stable visual base for art, lighting, and accessories.
Built for the Long Term
Capital’s approach with Otium is not about chasing a passing trend. The straightforward geometry and robust build give it long-range appeal, especially when paired with materials chosen to age well. The combination of sturdy structure and thoughtful ergonomics means the sofa is intended to be lived with, not just looked at.
Over time, it is the kind of piece that settles into the home, holding its shape and presence while the surrounding room evolves.
