Opera Bed

About Opera Bed

Design

The Opera bed by Capital is built around its headboard. Generous in scale and quietly dramatic, it sets the tone for the entire room. The hand-tufted detailing creates a subtle play of depth and shadow, with each button precisely placed to draw the eye without shouting for attention. The result is a classical look, updated with a clean, confident outline that feels at ease in both formal and relaxed spaces.

Its structure has a soft, flowing profile that frames the mattress and headboard as one sculpted piece. Nothing feels excessive, yet the bed carries a clear sense of occasion whenever it enters a room.

Materials & Build

Opera rests on a solid wooden frame, giving the piece its reassuring weight and stability. A metal base anchors the structure, adding strength where it matters most and keeping the silhouette light off the floor. Metallic finish profiles trace the edges with a discreet highlight, catching the light just enough to outline the form.

The bed is upholstered with variable-density foam padding, then finished in either leather or fabric, depending on the interior and the level of softness desired. At approximately 126 inches wide, 39.4 inches high, and 85 inches deep, and weighing around 452 pounds, it reads as a substantial, carefully engineered piece rather than a simple frame.

Comfort

Comfort on Opera comes from the way the foam is calibrated across the structure. Variable-density padding supports the body where it needs more firmness and relaxes where a gentler touch feels better. The tall padded headboard encourages lingering: sitting up to read, working from bed for a moment, or simply resting back at the end of the day. And because the comfort is built into the structure, nothing feels added on or temporary.

Placement & Lifestyle

With its width of roughly 126 inches, Opera is naturally suited to larger bedrooms, statement suites, or open-plan sleeping areas where it can sit away from the wall and still feel balanced. Its calm, tailored lines pair easily with different decors, from richly layered to minimal. Leather will lean more toward a hotel-like atmosphere, while a fabric finish can soften the look for a more residential mood.

The design does not compete with surrounding pieces. Instead, it anchors the space and lets art, lighting, and textiles build around it.

Longevity

Within Capital’s Beds 2024 collection, Opera is conceived as a long-term presence, not a seasonal piece. The combination of a wooden frame, metal base, and substantial upholstery gives it a durable core. Quality leather or well-chosen fabrics age with character when cared for, while the metallic profiles maintain their crisp outline over time.

Its packed volume of about 113 cubic feet also reflects a piece built with generous, real proportions. Once installed, it feels like a fixed point in the room, designed to stay, adapt to evolving styles, and continue to perform well for years of everyday use.
