About Vortex M Armchair
Design
Vortex M by Capital pairs a neat silhouette with a relaxed attitude. The proportions sit in that sweet spot between lounge and side chair, compact yet welcoming. Lines are soft, edges are clean, and nothing feels overdrawn. It reads refined without shouting for attention.
Conceived by Capital Creative Lab for the 2014 armchair collection, it looks at home in modern settings and quietly lifts more traditional rooms. The form is purposeful: a padded seat and back create the snug profile, while the base keeps the stance light. It is a small chair with presence, not bulk.
Materials & Build
The structure is straightforward and honest. A wooden frame provides the foundation. Undeformable polyurethane foam in varied densities shapes the seat and back, so the padding feels composed, not mushy. A metal base anchors the piece with a crisp, architectural note.
Finishes cover the essentials that matter: leather for a smooth, tailored read, or fabric for a softer touch and broader palette. Either way, the build aims for daily ease—no fuss, no fragile details.
Comfort
Comfort comes from proportion and padding, not gimmicks. The cushioned seat and back support the body without overstuffing. At a seat height of about 16.9 inches, it encourages a natural posture—low enough to relax, high enough for an easy rise. The foam retains its shape, so the feel stays consistent over time. Sit, read, talk, repeat.
Placement & Lifestyle
With a footprint of roughly 25.6 inches wide by 23.6 inches deep and an overall height of 34.6 inches, the chair slips easily into tight floor plans. It works as a pair in a living room, a single accent in a bedroom, or a quiet moment in a study. In hospitality spaces, it brings poise without crowding the layout. At about 39.7 pounds, it moves when needed, then settles back in place.
Upholstery choice steers the mood. Leather skews polished and urban. Fabric leans relaxed and textural. Both let the silhouette do the talking. And both play well with light-toned woods, stone, and metal.
Longevity
The promise is simple: hold shape, hold stance, hold style. The foam is designed to resist sagging, the wooden frame bears everyday use, and the metal base keeps the geometry true. Upholstery options are built for wear, whether the brief calls for leather’s quiet patina or fabric’s steady resilience. Vortex M from Capital is meant to stay in rotation, not in storage.
