Hug Storage

About Hug Storage

Design with a Light Gesture

The Hug console by Capital carries the quiet confidence of Luca Scacchetti’s 2014 sideboard collection. Its body appears to float on slim metal blades, giving a long, low silhouette that feels light rather than bulky. The design is clean and linear, with two wide sliding doors that keep the front uninterrupted. Nothing shouts for attention, yet the piece still makes a clear architectural statement in the room.

Materials & Build

The structure is defined by a balance of wood, leather, and metal. These materials are not overworked; they are allowed to speak through simple, broad surfaces and sharp edges. Inside, the sideboard is fully lacquered, a neat contrast to the exterior finishes. An internal wooden shelf runs across the width, creating two generous levels for storage. The console rests on those characteristic metal blades, available in different finishes to align with the surrounding space.

Use & Everyday Comfort

While it is a statement piece, the Hug sideboard is designed for straightforward, everyday use. The two sliding doors move along the length of the front, so access feels simple and fluid, even in tighter spaces where hinged doors might get in the way. The internal shelf keeps objects organized and visible, while the lacquered interior gives a clean, bright backdrop for what is stored inside.

Placement & Lifestyle

With its extended profile, the console naturally fits along a wall, leaving circulation free and uncluttered. It can anchor a dining area, support a living room arrangement, or bring order to an entry, depending on how the rest of the interior is composed. The minimal legs keep the floor open and airy, so rugs, lighting, and nearby seating still read clearly around it. This is a piece that quietly supports the rhythm of daily living rather than competing with it.

Proportions, Weight & Longevity

The Hug console measures approximately 86.6 inches wide, 31.5 inches high, and 19.7 inches deep, with a weight of about 254 pounds and a volume close to 42.4 cubic feet. The scale feels substantial without being overbearing. Built from wood, leather, metal, and finished with a lacquered interior, it is conceived as a long-term presence in the home. Over time, the restrained design language of Capital allows it to sit comfortably alongside evolving pieces and shifting tastes.
