About Duna
Design & Presence
The Duna desk by Capital has a quiet confidence. Designed by Boatto Martino Studio in 2024, it plays with soft curves and clean lines rather than sharp edges. The generous span, about 94.5 inches wide, gives the piece a strong horizontal presence, while the 34.3-inch height keeps it approachable and practical. It feels considered, not showy, and it settles into a room with ease.
From the front, the sculpted volume reads as one clear gesture. The curve wraps slightly, guiding the eye and subtly defining a work zone without building a wall. It works as a writing desk, but also as a natural anchor in a dressing or walk-in area where surface and storage need to feel integrated, not technical.
Materials & Build
The Duna desk is all about material balance. The top is available in wood or lacquer, giving a choice between a warmer grain or a sleeker, more uniform surface. Two drawers sit discreetly beneath, with fronts that can match in essence or lacquer for a calm, unified look.
Side panel and door can be finished in wood, lacquer, or plain leather, shifting the mood from more architectural to more tactile. Inside, a bronzed glass shelf adds a lighter note to the storage area. The base is finished in metal, grounding the piece visually and physically. At about 344 pounds, it has a reassuring solidity that suits its scale.
Comfort in Use
Despite its substantial dimensions—roughly 33.9 inches deep—the Duna desk doesn’t feel imposing when in use. The curved profile helps, softening the approach and making it easy to sit close and keep essentials within reach. The two drawers provide simple, everyday order without complicating the design.
The height supports comfortable writing or working with a laptop, and the open underside leaves room for legs and movement. Nothing feels overly engineered; it is straightforward, practical, and quietly refined.
Placement & Lifestyle
Capital positioned Duna as a writing desk, yet it adapts well beyond a traditional study. In a walk-in closet or dressing room, it can serve as a refined vanity or a place to sort documents and personal pieces. The choice of finishes—wood, lacquer, or leather—allows it to echo existing cabinetry or stand slightly apart as a statement piece.
In a home office or private office, the width creates a natural focal point along a wall, while the finished sides mean it can also float in the room without feeling unfinished from any angle. It is formal enough for work, but still suited to a residential rhythm.
Longevity & Character
Duna is built with lasting materials: wood, leather, metals, and bronzed glass. Nothing about the configuration is forced, which tends to age well. Surfaces are substantial and simple, the kind that take on a patina rather than looking worn out.
Over time, the combination of structured form and curated finishes is what keeps the piece relevant. It is a desk that can move from one setting to another—bedroom, office, dressing area—without losing its identity, carrying the quiet signature of Capital wherever it goes.
