About Karin 228 Storage
Design
The Karin 228 sideboard from Capital sits low and confident, with a clear, horizontal line that anchors a room. At about 89.8 inches wide, 21.3 inches deep, and 34.7 inches high, it has presence without feeling heavy. Four clean-front doors keep the facade quiet, while the optional open compartment introduces a lighter note, almost like a frame for a single object or stack of books.
Designed by Capital Creative Lab for the 2022 sideboard collection, the piece feels considered rather than complicated. Every element is there to keep the volume pure and the look calm, so it works easily alongside contemporary or more classic furniture.
Materials & Build
The structure is defined by its top surface, offered in marble, wood essence, or lacquered finishes. Each option shifts the character of the Karin 228, from more formal in stone to understated in wood or lacquer. Metal legs lift the body off the floor, and metallic finish details add a precise, tailored edge.
Inside, a glossy black finish gives a consistent, finished look, even when the doors are open. An internal tempered-glass shelf keeps the interior light and practical. The finishing palette spans metals, wood, leather, and marbles, allowing the piece to align with the rest of a carefully curated space.
Everyday Ease
Behind the four doors, storage is straightforward and generous. The internal shelf helps organize dinnerware, glassware, or media components, so items are easy to reach and easy to see. The optional open compartment offers quick access for objects that are used often or meant to stay on show.
The proportions are comfortable to live with. At just under counter height, the top works naturally as a serving surface, display ledge, or a simple, clear plane that visually quiets the room.
Placement & Lifestyle
This Capital sideboard moves smoothly between roles. In a dining room, it holds porcelain and linens. In a living area, it hides devices and cables for a cleaner view, while the open compartment can host a speaker or a few favorite volumes. It also works well in a wide hallway or office, where a long, continuous top helps keep things orderly.
The design stays visually light, so even at nearly 90 inches long, it does not overwhelm. Instead, it reads as a composed backdrop that supports the rest of the interior.
Longevity
With a weight between approximately 304 and 397 pounds, the Karin 228 feels solid and reassuring once in place. The combination of metal structure, quality finishes, and tempered glass is built for repeated, everyday use rather than occasional display.
At roughly 1.1 cubic meters, or about 39 cubic feet in volume, it is a substantial piece, meant to be chosen once and kept. Materials are selected for durability as much as appearance, so the sideboard can evolve with the home as layouts and surrounding pieces change over time.
