Bon Ton Sofa

About Bon Ton Sofa

Design

The Bon Ton sofa from Capital carries a clear, confident line. Its finely contoured shell cradles the seat, creating a clean outer silhouette with a soft inner volume. At the back, an exposed metal element breaks the surface in an intentional way, almost like a piece of jewelry on an otherwise simple form. The balance between the firm shell and the generous seat gives it a sinuous, slightly enveloping look without feeling bulky.

Designed by Boatto Martino Studio in 2018, the piece feels considered rather than decorative. The proportions stay compact, with a width of about 63 inches, a height around 34 inches, and a depth close to 35.5 inches, so it sits comfortably in both smaller and larger rooms.

Materials & Build

Structure and finish are kept honest. The outer shell rests on a metal base with rounded corners, a detail that softens the geometry and keeps the profile light near the floor. That base, along with the visible metal element at the backrest, anchors the sofa visually and physically; at roughly 154 pounds, it has presence without feeling heavy-handed.

The pre-cover in memory foam wraps the structure before the final fabric or leather upholstery is applied. Metals, leathers, and fabrics make up the full finishing palette, allowing Bon Ton to move from understated to more expressive, depending on the selection.

Comfort

Comfort comes from contrast. The rigid shell defines the shape, while the memory foam pre-cover softens every contact point. It responds gently to weight, then recovers, keeping the seat welcoming instead of overly plush. The seat height, around 17.7 inches, feels natural for both lounging and conversation.

The enveloping form supports the back without forcing posture. It is the kind of sofa that invites a longer sit, but still lets someone stand up easily and smoothly.

Placement & Lifestyle

With its measured footprint and clean profile, Bon Ton works well in living rooms, studio spaces, or private offices. About 63 inches wide, it can sit as a standalone piece or pair with armchairs without overwhelming the setting. And with a volume of roughly 46 cubic feet, it is substantial enough for main seating, yet still manageable for apartment living.

In fabric, it leans more relaxed and residential. In leather with metal accents, it takes on a sharper, more tailored presence, suitable for reception areas or executive suites.

Longevity

The combination of a firm structural shell, metal base, and memory foam pre-cover gives the Capital sofa a reassuring feel over time. The base resists daily knocks, the rounded corners reduce visible wear at the edges, and the chosen fabric or leather finish can be aligned with the level of use the space demands.

Nothing about the piece is excessively fragile or overly ornate. It is built to stay composed under frequent use, aging through its coverings rather than its form, which keeps the design relevant season after season.
