Merian Side table

About Merian Side table

Design

The Merian side table from Capital brings a calm, modern presence to a room. Designed by Margherita Fanti for the Service Tables 2025 collection, it balances a solid, grounded base with a fluid, glossy top. The silhouette is simple at first glance, then reveals soft, continuous lines that guide the eye around the piece. Light glides across the surface, catching the curves and quietly emphasizing the sculpted profile.

Nothing feels decorative for its own sake. Each radius, each transition from base to top, has a clear intention. The result is a compact table that looks considered from every angle and sits naturally in contemporary settings.

Materials & Build

A solid metallic base anchors the table, giving Merian its reassuring stability and visual weight. The metal finishing is treated with high-level artisanal processes, which smooth the forms and sharpen the details without losing the softness of the lines. The glossy top and base are one coherent statement, not separate elements forced together.

With a height of about 19.7 inches and a diameter of roughly 15.7 inches, the proportions feel measured rather than fragile. At approximately 22 pounds and a volume near 6.4 cubic feet, it has enough substance to stay firmly in place while remaining easy to move when needed.

Comfort in Everyday Use

The table’s height is designed to sit comfortably alongside seating, keeping objects naturally within reach. The circular top works from every side, so there is no front or back to worry about when arranging it. Edges are softened by the continuous curves, which makes the piece feel approachable and easy to live with.

Placement & Lifestyle

The compact footprint allows the Merian side table to fit into tighter spaces without feeling lost. Its glossy metal surface introduces a subtle note of light and reflection, which helps it integrate into both restrained and more expressive interiors. The design neither dominates nor disappears; it simply supports the setting around it.

Longevity

Built entirely in metal, the table is conceived for long-term use. The solid base and carefully worked surface reduce visual and physical fragility. With considered proportions and a clear, modern line, the piece is meant to stay relevant as spaces evolve, keeping its place quietly by the side rather than calling for constant replacement.
