About Sipario Bookshelve
Design
The Sipario bookcase from Capital brings a quiet architectural presence to a room. Designed by Boatto Martino Studio for the 2024 Bookcase collection, it plays with vertical rhythm and gentle curves rather than showy gestures. The structure is clean and linear, then broken by those curved panels that introduce a softer note. From the front it reads almost like a subtle room divider, with open spaces for display and closed sections that suggest order. It feels considered, but not fussy, so it sits comfortably alongside both contemporary and more classic pieces.
Materials & Build
Sipario is built on a wooden structure, giving the bookcase a solid, reassuring core. The base can be specified in matching wood, in a lacquered finish for a crisper look, or in marble when a more grounded, mineral note is desired. Back panels and shelves are offered either in wood essence or lacquer, allowing the client to decide how quiet or how graphic the overall composition should feel. The curved panels are upholstered exclusively in plain leather, Cat. A or Cat. B, which keeps the look refined and avoids visual noise.
Metallic-finish details trace the lines and edges, adding a discreet highlight rather than shouting for attention. At roughly 63 inches wide, 83.5 inches high, and 13.8 inches deep, Sipario has a generous presence without taking over the floor. Weight ranges from about 463 to 518 pounds, depending on the chosen finishes, so the piece feels firmly anchored rather than temporary.
Comfort in Daily Use
This is a bookcase meant to be lived with, not just looked at. The depth is practical, keeping books and objects easy to reach without projecting too far into the room. Shelves and panels create natural zones for display, storage, and a bit of concealment, so everyday items can sit alongside more curated pieces without the whole composition feeling busy. Visual comfort comes from that balance: open, closed, and curved elements working together quietly.
Placement & Lifestyle
With a volume of about 42.4 cubic feet, the Sipario bookcase offers substantial storage while still reading as a single, coherent object. Against a wall, it becomes a calm backdrop for books, art, and collected objects. In a larger space, it can also help define areas without fully closing them off, thanks to its open structure and slim depth. In a living room, study, or private office, the piece introduces order and warmth rather than a strictly functional storage grid.
Longevity
Capital has kept the material palette focused on what lasts: wood, leather, marble, and metal. The substantial weight and wooden core give the bookcase stability over time, while the leather-clad curves and marble or lacquer options are chosen to age with character, not fatigue. Finishes are straightforward and honest, so the piece does not rely on short-lived effects. It is a bookcase designed to stay in place, to be reconfigured with new books and objects as life shifts around it, without losing its quiet, composed presence.
