About Grand Armchair
Design
The Grand armchair sits in that quiet space between statement and understatement. Designed by Boatto Martino Studio for Capital in 2017, it is part of a broader seating system that also includes sofas, poufs and tables. The lines are generous without feeling bulky, with a wide, open seat that invites a relaxed posture.
Proportion does most of the work here. At roughly 45.3 inches wide, 26.4 inches high and 40.6 inches deep, Grand reads as substantial, yet low and calm. The character comes from the balance of these dimensions and from the handmade detailing that softens each edge. Nothing screams for attention, but the silhouette stays in mind.
Materials & Build
This model is built around a careful mix of metals, fabrics and leather. The metal elements give structure and definition, framing the volume of the seat. Upholstery can lean more textile, more leather, or a combination, allowing Grand to adapt to different interiors without losing its core look. The craftsmanship is visible in the junctions and stitching, where those handmade touches become most apparent.
Comfort
Grand is designed as a lounge chair first, not an accent piece to perch on. The seat height, about 16.5 inches, keeps the body grounded yet comfortable, with armrests rising to around 26.4 inches to support a natural resting position. The wide footprint gives room to shift and settle in, whether for short conversations or longer stretches of reading and unwinding.
Placement & Lifestyle
As part of Capital’s living room collection, the Grand armchair is meant to sit easily alongside sofas, poufs and tables from the same family, but it works just as well on its own. It can anchor a corner with a floor lamp and side table, or pair symmetrically in a larger seating layout. The visual weight is low enough for open-plan spaces, yet solid enough for more formal rooms.
Longevity
With a shipping volume of about 35.3 cubic feet and a weight close to 150 pounds, Grand feels substantial. The combination of metal structure, quality upholstery materials and hand-finished details is chosen for long-term use, not a single season. It is the kind of lounge chair that stays in a home as tastes evolve around it.
