Ku-R Mirror

About Ku-R Mirror

Considered Design

The Ku-R mirror from Capital sits in that quiet space between statement and understatement. Its presence is strong but not loud. The frame is meticulously carved, giving the piece a sculpted profile that reads as deliberate rather than decorative. Lines stay clean, and the geometry is clear, whether in the square or rectangular version.

At around 39.4 inches wide and 63 inches high, the rectangular format has a confident vertical stance. The depth is slim, just under 2 inches, so the mirror feels integrated rather than bulky. It looks designed to work with a room, not overpower it.

Materials & Build

Capital keeps the material story simple: wood and metal. The wooden frame carries the main visual weight, with the carving adding subtle texture and relief. It gives the mirror a tactile edge that reads well up close and still feels clean from a distance.

Metal detailing runs as a refined accent, catching light and outlining the form without turning it into an object of pure decoration. The piece weighs around 81.6 pounds and occupies roughly 7.1 cubic feet in volume, so it has real substance. Nothing about it feels temporary or slight.

Proportion & Everyday Use

Thanks to its height of roughly 63 inches, the Ku-R mirror offers a generous field of view. It lets a person take in their silhouette and the room around them in a single glance. The carved frame sets a clear boundary, so the reflection feels composed, not sprawling.

The square version shifts the focus, creating a more balanced, centered reflection. Both formats share the same design language, so they can stand alone or work together in a larger scheme.

In the Home

From the Lighting and Complements 2015 collection, Ku-R behaves like a quiet anchor in a space. It sits comfortably in an entryway, bedroom, or dressing area, and can also break up a large living room wall. The wood and metal mix lets it move easily between contemporary and more classic interiors.

It is a piece that suits spaces where every object has a clear role: reflecting light, opening up sightlines, and framing the person in front of it.

Longevity

The construction is straightforward, with solid-feeling wood and metal components designed to stay in use for years rather than seasons. There is no visual excess to date quickly; the forms rely on proportion and detail more than trend.

With normal care, the materials age in a way that adds character rather than wear. It is the kind of mirror that can move with a person from one home to the next and still feel appropriate, still feel considered.
