About Wunderkammer
Design
Wunderkammer is a display case and storage unit designed by Piero Lissoni with a clear, architectural presence. The lines are tight and deliberate, with a dark brown anodized aluminum structure that reads as a slim frame rather than a heavy cabinet. And because the glass is so visually quiet, the focus stays on what’s inside.
The proportions are offered in a range of configurations, from lower, elongated formats to taller, gallery-like pieces. Sizes include 63.0″ x 19.7″ x 29.5″, 79.1″ x 19.7″ x 29.5″, and vertical versions at 47.2″–83.1″ long by 19.7″ deep and 68.9″ high. The variation makes it easy to choose the scale without changing the character.
Materials & Build
Glasitalia builds Wunderkammer with tempered transparent extra-light glass panels and highly finished aluminum details. The base is covered in opaque lacquered glass, giving the cabinet a clean visual stop at the bottom and a subtle contrast to the transparent envelope.
Inside, shelves are supported by adjustable brackets fixed to two vertical pillars. Those same pillars act as a striker for the door, which is fitted with fully adjustable hinges. It’s all precise, and it feels designed to be set up exactly, then kept that way.
Use & Everyday Comfort
This is a piece made to be lived with in a practical way, even when it’s used for special objects. The door hardware allows careful alignment over time, and the shelves can be repositioned as collections change. But it stays visually calm. No fussy framing, no heavy mullions.
The transparent extra-light glass and the thinness of the structure create true 360° visibility. That makes arranging items feel less like “storage” and more like curation, whether the contents are personal or professional.
Placement & Lifestyle
Wunderkammer is suited to museum and shop display use, and that same clarity works beautifully in residential settings that value restraint. A lower configuration can sit quietly along a wall, while the taller versions bring a more vertical, exhibition-style presence to an entry, study, or open living space.
Lighting is available as an option, integrated into the upper frame profiles. It offers high color performance at 3500K, with a stated intensity of 20 W/m. It’s discreet, and it keeps the focus where it belongs.
Longevity
These units can be supplied completely disassembled, which supports careful delivery and installation. A lock is available on demand, useful when the contents need an added layer of control without changing the look.
Wunderkammer from Glasitalia is built around resilient materials—anodized aluminum, tempered glass, and tuned hardware—chosen for long-term stability and repeatable adjustment. It’s a straightforward promise: clear display, solid structure, and details that hold up.
