About Kazimir shelf
Design
The Kazimir shelf reads as a clean architectural gesture, reduced to what matters. Interlocked planes overlap and meet with crisp alignment, so the piece feels precise from every angle. But it never gets cold or fussy. The form is rigorous, yet the transparency keeps it light in the room.
Designed by Michael Anastassiades, the composition is intentional without being loud. And because the shelf can be wall-mounted in either orientation, the same object can look linear and horizontal one day, then feel more graphic and vertical the next.
Materials & build
Each shelf is made entirely from special tempered glass, 0.39 inches thick, offered in green or extra-clear glass with double-sided acid-etched finish. That finish takes the edge off reflections and gives the surface a calm, soft presence while still reading as glass.
The structure comes from overlapping sheets joined through a UV bonding method. There’s no visual distraction from hardware, just clean junctions where planes cross and lock together. It’s the kind of construction that rewards close viewing, especially along the edges and seams.
Use & everyday feel
This isn’t storage that tries to hide. It’s storage that edits the room. Books, objects, and ceramics seem to float, and the acid-etched surfaces keep the overall effect controlled rather than glossy. And when it’s styled sparingly, the shelf itself becomes the focal point.
Placement & lifestyle
The Kazimir shelf works well in spaces where visual weight matters: a living room wall, a hallway that needs structure, or behind a desk where the view should stay open. Depth and height remain consistent at about 11.0 inches deep and 12.4 inches high, while lengths vary across configurations from roughly 21.3 inches up to 68.1 inches, so it can be sized to a tight niche or stretched across a larger wall.
As part of the broader Kazimir family from Glas Italia, it pairs naturally with other glass-forward pieces, but it also stands on its own next to wood, stone, or metal.
Longevity
The materials are inherently resilient: tempered glass with a bonded construction made for real use, not just display. Care is straightforward, and the restrained form won’t date quickly. It’s also worth noting the piece is not available custom made, so choosing the right configuration upfront is part of the process.
