About Boxinbox

Design

Boxinbox reads exactly as its name suggests: a clean volume held inside another, with the storage element visually suspended within the outer case. Philippe Starck keeps the lines crisp and the geometry clear, so the piece feels architectural without feeling loud. And because everything is transparent, the proportions do the work. The collection moves from compact low tables to taller storage forms, all with the same box-within-a-box logic.

Materials & build

Each unit is made in laminated 5+5 mm extralight glass, thermo-welded and glued at 45° for sharp, precise corners. The base is reflective polished stainless steel, a small detail that changes the whole read of the piece by catching light and echoing the room around it. Inside the clear outer structure, a second component brings the storage function in transparent coloured glass, adding a subtle tint without closing things off.

The range also includes a low storage table with six shelves, built in the same laminated glass and finished with the same stainless base. For smaller, more contained storage, there are dedicated cases in Zebrano wood, joined with dovetails and designed to sit naturally alongside the glass pieces.

Everyday use

This is storage that stays visually light. Items can be kept close at hand without turning the room into a collection of solid blocks. The inner coloured-glass element gives a clear boundary for what gets stored, while the outer extralight shell keeps the overall silhouette quiet. But it still feels intentional, especially when the stainless base mirrors the floor and makes the piece appear to float.

Placement & lifestyle

Boxinbox fits neatly into modern living rooms, open-plan spaces, and more formal sitting areas where the furniture needs to hold its own without adding clutter. In coffee-table proportions, pieces like 37.4" x 23.6" x 15.0" or 36.6" x 27.6" x 16.3" sit comfortably in front of a sofa. Taller formats, including 33.5" x 14.4" x 65.4", work well as a slim storage presence near a lounge chair, along a wall, or beside a media setup where transparency helps keep sightlines open.

Longevity

glasitalia builds this collection around stable, resilient materials: laminated glass for strength and polished stainless steel for a hard-wearing base that keeps its finish with basic care. There’s no custom sizing offered, which makes the selection straightforward and consistent across the range. The result is a piece designed to stay current through changing interiors, because it relies on proportion, clarity, and good construction rather than decorative tricks.
