About Harold and Maude
Design
Harold and Maude is a low table that leans into motion. Designed by Carlo Tamborini for Glas Italia, it is shaped from extralight transparent glass with a curvature that is anything but ordinary. The profile turns and folds with daring angles, then softens into gradients that catch the light in a quieter way. And because the glass stays visually clean, the form reads as sculpted without feeling heavy.
The look is confident but not loud. From most angles it feels almost weightless, as if the tabletop and legs are one continuous gesture. That sense of plasticity is the point here: a technical piece that still sits easily in a room, never asking for extra explanation.
Materials & build
Everything is made in extralight transparent glass. The clarity matters. It keeps edges crisp and the overall presence light, even when the geometry gets complex. The construction relies on a sophisticated curvature, with precise transitions through the corners and along the bends. It is a refined approach, and it shows in how the table holds its shape while staying visually minimal.
Harold and Maude is not available custom made. Quick ship is available for the HAR01 and HAR02 configurations, keeping the choice focused and straightforward.
Everyday use
Despite the technical attitude, the table is simple to live with. The surfaces remain open and clean, making it easy to place a book, a glass, or a small object without visual clutter. The transparent body lets surrounding textures do the work, so the table supports a setting rather than taking it over.
And there is a certain ease in the proportions. It feels light when approached, not bulky, with the kind of presence that works best when it is used often.
Sizes and placement
Two sizes are available. HAR01 measures approximately 22.8 inches by 22.8 inches, with a height of about 13.0 inches. HAR02 measures approximately 19.7 inches by 19.7 inches, with a height of about 22.4 inches. The difference changes the role in a room: one sits lower and relaxed, the other reads a bit more upright and ready to pair with seating.
Because the glass is so clear, both versions work well near upholstered pieces, layered rugs, or alongside stronger materials like stone and wood. But they also hold their own in a pared-back interior where the structure can be appreciated up close.
Longevity
The appeal here is not trend-driven detail but the quality of the form and the restraint of the material. Extralight transparent glass keeps its look consistent over time, and the design avoids added parts that can date quickly. The result is a piece that stays relevant as the room changes around it.
Glas Italia’s Harold and Maude is made to be looked at, yes, but also to be used. It earns its place by staying clear, precise, and quietly resilient day after day.
