Triennale

About Triennale

Design

Triennale is a bench reduced to the essentials. A long, clear volume with a quiet presence, it reads as a single architectural line rather than a piece with parts. The proportions are slim and intentional, and the low height keeps it visually light. Designer Michele De Lucchi keeps the gesture simple, letting the material and the edge work do the talking.

There’s an ease to it. It doesn’t need ornament, and it doesn’t try to look soft. But it still feels considered from every angle, especially when light moves across the surface and the outline sharpens.

Materials & build

The bench is made in laminated extralight, acid-etched glass. The top is a substantial 1.18 inches thick, built from two 0.59 inch layers bonded together. The finish is satin-matte from the acid etching, while the edge is shiny and ground, so the perimeter catches light with a cleaner, brighter line.

It comes in standard sizes and is not available custom made. Two formats are offered: 47.2 inches long by 11.8 inches wide by 16.5 inches high, and 55.1 inches long by 15.7 inches wide by 16.5 inches high.

Comfort

This is a glass bench, so comfort is about firmness and posture. The height sits in that familiar bench range, and the wide, flat plane gives a stable seat for short moments. And the acid-etched surface helps by feeling less slick than polished glass, with a softer touch under the hand when someone sits down or shifts.

Placement & lifestyle

Triennale works best where the room can breathe. In an entry, it reads as a clean landing spot, especially when paired with a wall mirror or a single artwork. In a bedroom, it can sit at the foot of the bed without visually crowding the space. It also makes sense along a hallway wall, where its transparency keeps the circulation light.

Because it’s glass, it plays well with darker floors, rugs, and heavy upholstery. It can also disappear into a minimal interior and still feel deliberate. That’s the appeal of a piece like this from glasitalia: it supports the room rather than taking it over.

Longevity

The laminated construction adds reassurance, and the ground edge is finished with precision, not left raw. The acid-etched surface is forgiving in daily use, helping reduce the look of fingerprints compared to high-gloss glass. Triennale is made to stay relevant through changing settings, as long as it’s treated with the basic care any refined glass piece deserves.
