About Bent Glass Bench/Stool
Design
The Bent Glass Bench/Stool is a study in restraint, drawn with one continuous gesture. Designed by Naoto Fukasawa for glasitalia, it reads as a clean, curved volume with no extra lines to distract from the form. The silhouette stays quiet, but it has presence. And because it’s glass, the piece changes with the room—light, shadow, and what sits behind it all become part of the look.
It comes in two configurations, each keeping the same sculpted profile. The longer BEB01 measures about 78.7 inches long, 19.3 inches wide, and 16.1 inches high. The more compact BES02 comes in at roughly 15.7 inches long, with the same 19.3-inch width and 16.1-inch height.
Materials & Build
Each piece is made from shaped and curved glass, 15 mm thick, which is about 0.59 inches. In the standard version, it’s transparent extralight glass, chosen for its clarity and bright, low-iron appearance. There is also a silver glass version for a more reflective, precious look. But the design stays the same: a single material, carefully formed.
The defining detail is the curvature itself. That bend isn’t only visual—it’s what gives the glass its notable load resistance. There’s a calm confidence to that approach, using geometry rather than added structure to do the work.
Comfort
Comfort here is simple and intentional. The bench height sits low and easy, and the broad 19.3-inch depth gives a stable perch. The surface is firm, of course, but the proportions make it feel welcoming for quick seating, putting on shoes, or pausing in conversation.
And because the profile is gently rounded, the piece doesn’t feel sharp or severe. It looks crisp, yet it sits in a space with a softer edge than expected.
Placement & Lifestyle
The Bent Glass Bench/Stool works best where the room benefits from openness. In an entry, it keeps the sightline clear. In a dressing area, it adds function without visual weight. In a living space, it can sit at the foot of a bed or float near seating as an extra place to land.
Quick ship is available for BEB01 and BEB02 in extralight or silver glass, which helps when a project is on a tighter schedule. Custom sizing is not offered, so the choice stays focused on the two standard options.
Longevity
Glass can feel delicate until it’s done right. Here, the 0.59-inch thickness and the engineered curve give the piece its strength. The look is minimal, but the build is serious. It’s meant to be lived with, not just admired from a distance.
It also ages in a different way than upholstered furniture. No fabric to fade, no finish to patina—just a clear, resilient surface that keeps its character as the rest of the room evolves.
