About Press Floor Lamp

Design

The Press Large Floor Lamp by Lasvit brings a quiet clarity to the room. Designed by Nendo, it takes a cue from the Japanese Mingei approach—simple usefulness, made beautifully. A glass tube is pressed as if pinched, and the light source sits in that narrowed waist. No fuss, no flourish, just a precise gesture that gives the piece its character. The organic profile feels fluid from every angle, and it holds the eye even when switched off.

This Clear / Large configuration shows the idea at its most pure. The silhouette stays lean and vertical, with a small footprint that tucks in beside seating without crowding it. For those building a composition, the Press lamp also comes in two shape variations, allowing subtle mix-and-match without breaking the visual language.

Materials & Build

The glass is shaped by compression rather than a rigid metal mold, so each lamp carries slight, natural differences. Gentle waves, tiny air bubbles, a touch of variance—these signs of handwork give the piece a singular look. The frame is finished in a glossy white lacquer (RAL 9010), a crisp counterpoint to the clarity of the glass. At 25.2 in high, 8.35 in long, and 5.51 in wide, it reads slim yet substantial. Weighing 17.6 lb, it feels grounded and confident on the floor without appearing heavy.

Illumination & Comfort

The light source nestles into the pressed section, keeping the profile neat. Clear glass refracts the beam, catching highlights along the pinch and sending a clean, comfortable glow outward. It is bright enough for a reading corner when placed close to a chair, yet calm enough to layer with ceiling or wall lighting. No visible ornament distracts. Just light, shaped by glass, with a soft focus where the form narrows.

Placement & Lifestyle

Press works where it is needed most: beside a sofa, between two lounge chairs, at the edge of a bedroom nook, or in a quiet office corner. The compact footprint slides under side tables or alongside low seating, and the clear glass complements both warm woods and cool stone. In daylight, it stands as a clear sculptural column. At night, it adds definition without visual clutter. Pair two variations for a measured rhythm, or let a single Lasvit Press lamp anchor a reading spot with ease.

Longevity

Built to be used every day, the piece favors enduring materials and a straightforward idea. The hand-pressed glass is resilient in normal use, and the white lacquered base wipes clean with a soft cloth. Because each lamp is handmade, minor variations in the glass are expected and appreciated—they make the lamp feel personal. The design doesn’t chase trends; it rewards daily living with steady light and a form that stays relevant, room after room.
