About Orion Drawers
Design
The Orion chest of drawers from Capital is a low, confident piece with a clear purpose. A single wide drawer runs the full width, keeping the front clean and uninterrupted. Metal profiles trace the edges and frame the volume, giving the piece a precise, architectural feel without making it look cold. The optional marble top sits like a quiet accent, adding weight and a subtle play of texture when specified.
Developed by Capital Creative Lab in 2015, Orion reads as contemporary but not extreme. Lines are straight, proportions are balanced, and every element feels considered rather than decorative. It is the kind of piece that blends in at first, then becomes the anchor of the wall it sits against.
Materials & Build
Orion is built on a solid wooden frame, then finished in category B leather. The leather wraps the body with a smooth, continuous surface that feels substantial to the hand. Metal profiles and handles cut through that softness with a crisp, tailored contrast. Together, they give the chest both warmth and structure. The piece measures about 51.2 inches wide, 31.9 inches high, and 19.7 inches deep, with a weight range of roughly 247 to 291 pounds, which hints at its solid construction. An optional marble top can be added when a more pronounced, sculptural presence is desired.
Use & Comfort
With one generous drawer, the Orion chest of drawers is straightforward to live with. The single compartment keeps storage simple, whether it holds daily essentials, documents, or carefully folded textiles. At just under 32 inches high, the top sits at a comfortable working height for placing trays, lamps, or a catch-all dish. The metal handles offer a firm, reassuring grip, while the leather surface brings a soft touch to the everyday ritual of opening and closing the drawer.
Placement & Lifestyle
Orion by Capital works naturally in the bedroom, where it can function as a refined storage piece under a mirror or artwork. It also sits well in a hallway or living room, reading almost like a console with hidden capacity. In more formal spaces, the optional marble top pushes it toward sideboard territory, suited to a dining room wall or a reception area. The mix of wood, leather, and metal lets it bridge different interiors, from minimal to more layered, without feeling out of place.
Longevity
The sturdy wooden frame, protective metal profiles, and leather finish all contribute to a piece designed for long service. Leather gains character over time when cared for properly, and the metal elements help shield edges and corners from everyday knocks. With a shipping volume of about 28.3 cubic feet, Orion arrives as a substantial piece, intended to stay rather than float between rooms. It is a discreet, durable presence in the CHEST OF DRAWERS 2015 collection, meant to hold its place year after year.
