About Mari Cristal
Design
Mari Cristal is a rectangular dining table by Philippe Starck, drawn with a clear, architectural logic. The outline is crisp, the profile stays light, and the whole piece reads calm even in a busy room. And because the structure is so honest, the details matter: the way the glass holds its line, the way the base catches light without shouting for attention.
The composition is simple on paper, but it lands with presence. Two trestles set the stance, while a central glass beam ties everything together. It’s a table that looks precise from every angle, which is exactly what makes it feel relaxed in real life.
Materials & Build
The top is offered in 12 mm tempered transparent extralight glass, kept clean and open for a near-invisible surface. There’s also an alternative in laminated 6+6 mm glass, in transparent light pink, light grey, or light yellow. The color is subtle, more like a tint than a statement, and it shifts naturally with the room’s light.
The base is formed by two mirror-polished stainless steel trestles. Between them, a 19+19 mm laminated extralight glass beam adds strength and a quiet sense of continuity. That beam can be neutral transparent, or matched to the same transparent colored finish as the top.
Comfort at the Table
This is a dining table that doesn’t compete with what happens around it. The glass surface keeps sightlines open, which makes conversation feel easier across the table. But it still holds the room like a proper centerpiece, especially with the reflective stainless steel adding a measured glow.
The trestle layout also keeps the look tidy at the ends, so chairs can read cleanly around it. It’s visually light, yet it doesn’t feel fragile.
Placement & Lifestyle
Mari Cristal suits rooms that lean modern, but it’s not locked into one style. It can sit comfortably with upholstered dining chairs, sculptural pieces, or more minimal seating. The transparent finishes are especially good for spaces where color needs to stay controlled, almost like a filter.
Size options span from 78.7" to 98.4" long, with widths of 31.5" or 35.4", and a height of 28.3". That range makes it easy to choose the right scale for smaller dining areas or longer, gallery-like rooms.
Longevity & Custom Options
The materials are chosen for resilience, not decoration. Tempered and laminated glass are made for real use, while stainless steel keeps its clarity with routine care. The finishes are intentionally straightforward, so the table can evolve with changing interiors.
Glas Italia offers Mari Cristal as custom made as well, allowing the piece to be tailored when a standard size or finish isn’t quite right.
