Design

Shimmer tavoli is Patricia Urquiola’s take on glass furniture with a little movement built in. The surfaces carry an iridescent, multichromatic finish that shifts as the light shifts. And it changes again as the viewpoint changes, so the table never reads the same twice.

There is a quiet precision to the shapes. Rounds stay clean and centered, rectangles feel crisp, and the overall look stays understated even when the finish catches the room. Reflections land with a slightly unreal clarity, soft at the edges, more atmospheric than glossy.

Materials & build

Each piece is made in laminated and glued glass. That construction gives the collection its solid presence while keeping the visual weight light. The signature finish is where the character sits: iridescent tones that can lean cooler or warmer depending on the angle of the light source.

On the taller tables, the base can be dismantled. It is fixed to the top with metal plates that are kept out of sight, concealed by a circular decorated covering. It’s a practical detail, handled in a way that doesn’t interrupt the line of the glass.

Comfort and daily use

These pieces are about visual comfort as much as function. The top reads smooth and continuous, so place settings, books, or objects sit neatly without competing with the structure. But the finish still brings depth, so the surface never feels flat or clinical.

Heights and proportions are considered for real rooms. Options range from compact accent sizes like Ø20.5" x 17.7" (SHI01) and Ø25.6" x 19.7" (SHI02) to dining heights around 29.1" (SHI08–SHI13), plus console formats such as 39.4" x 17.7" x 33.3" (SHI07).

Placement & lifestyle

Shimmer tables adapt easily because the finish does the styling. In a calm interior, it adds a controlled flash. In a layered space, it picks up colors already in the room and makes them feel intentional. And it pairs well with stone, wood, or lacquer without needing a perfect match.

Sizes run from generous rounds up to Ø55.1" x 29.1" (SHI12) and larger rectangles like 94.5" x 51.2" x 29.1" (SHI13), so the collection can anchor anything from a dining room to a hallway moment. Custom-made options are available through Glas Italia.
