SiO2 Tunnel

About SiO2 Tunnel

Design

SiO2 Tunnel is a low table defined by clean geometry and a confident, architectural profile. The surface reads as a precise square or a long rectangle, lifted slightly by small aluminium feet that keep the silhouette light. The form is simple on purpose. It lets the glass do the work, with depth and a crisp edge that feels considered, not decorative.

Designed by Carlo Tamborini, the piece has a calm presence that fits modern rooms without trying too hard. And it still has character up close, especially where the paired glass plates meet and the color choices create a quiet contrast.

Materials & Build

The table is made with a double plate in coupled laminated glass, finished in lacquered glass. It is available in glossy lacquered glass or opaque lacquered glass, depending on the mood a room needs. Glossy leans sharper and more reflective. Opaque feels softer and more understated, with color reading in a more matte way.

A key detail is the option to freely combine the color of the inside with the color of the outside. That layered color approach is where SiO2 Tunnel becomes personal, even within a defined collection. But it is not available custom made, so the selection stays within the offered finishes.

Comfort, in the way a table should feel

This is not “comfort” in the lounge-chair sense. It is about how a table behaves in daily use. The proportions are low and easy, made for a relaxed reach from a sofa. The surface feels substantial thanks to the double glass construction, while the aluminium feet keep it from feeling heavy.

And because the look is so clean, it pairs well with more tactile pieces around it: textured upholstery, wood, or stone. The table stays composed and lets other materials breathe.

Placement & Lifestyle

Two sizes cover most living-room layouts. The 43.3 in by 43.3 in top with a height of 12.6 in suits a centered seating plan, where the table becomes a clear anchor. The 51.2 in by 27.6 in version, also 12.6 in high, works well in tighter rooms or in front of a longer sofa, giving more reach without taking over the floor.

SiO2 Tunnel from glasitalia looks best when it has a bit of space around it. Glass rewards good light. And the inside/outside color combination gives a subtle shift as people move through the room.

Longevity

Coupled laminated glass is chosen for resilience, and the lacquered finish gives the color depth that holds its presence over time. The aluminium feet are small but purposeful, keeping the table stable and visually crisp at floor level.

This is a piece that stays relevant through changes in accessories and seating. glasitalia keeps it focused: clear options, strong materials, and a design that does not rely on trends to feel current.
