About Simoon
Design
Simoon is a glass table collection by Patricia Urquiola, drawn with clean geometry and a quiet sense of presence. The forms stay simple, but they never feel plain. Rectangles, squares, and circles appear across the range, each one reading as a crisp volume rather than a heavy object.
Color does most of the talking. The surface carries a subtle, granular look that shifts with the light, available in amethyst, light blue, and topaz. And because the finish is consistent across sizes, the collection feels cohesive even when different pieces are mixed in the same room.
Materials & Build
Each piece is made from UV-bonded slabs of extralight glass, ground and polished, with a thickness of about 0.47 inches. That clarity matters. It keeps the color clean and the edges sharp, so the overall impression stays refined rather than ornate.
The top surface is coated with a special grit in ground Murano glass. It adds visual depth and a more tactile character than a standard glossy plane. Simoon is not available custom made, so the finish and palette remain exactly as specified.
Everyday Use
Simoon is designed to be lived with, not just looked at. The proportions are balanced, with options that sit low and intimate, and others that stand higher with a more architectural stance. The glass construction keeps the pieces visually light, so even larger footprints don’t dominate.
The coated surface brings a soft, slightly diffused read to the tabletop. It’s still glass, still precise, but it avoids the starkness that can come with a perfectly slick finish.
Placement & Lifestyle
The collection covers a wide range of formats, from compact round and square pieces to expansive statement sizes. Dimensions run from about 19.7 by 20.5 inches up to 98.4 by 43.3 inches, with heights ranging from roughly 15.7 inches to 31.5 inches. Round options include diameters around 17.7 inches, 31.5 inches, and 55.1 inches.
In a dining room, the larger formats bring clarity and color without adding visual clutter. In a living space, the lower pieces sit comfortably near seating, acting as a calm center point. Simoon by glasitalia also works well in transitional areas, where a narrow surface can add function while keeping the room feeling open.
Longevity
Simoon’s appeal is in its restraint: a disciplined silhouette, a considered surface, and materials that don’t rely on trend-driven details. The UV-bonded glass construction keeps the design crisp, while the Murano glass grit finish gives it a signature look that doesn’t need embellishment.
It’s a piece chosen for consistency over time. The color, the clarity, and the clean geometry make Simoon an easy match for evolving interiors, season after season.
