About Seasons
Design
Seasons is a low table by Jean-Marie Massaud that keeps the gesture simple and precise. A clean glass volume sits close to the floor, almost disappearing until the light catches its edges. The center is defined by a contained basin, so the surface reads as calm but never flat. And the double top adds a subtle sense of depth, inviting a second look.
The proportions are generous and balanced at about 47.2 inches square and 13.0 inches high. It feels architectural, but not cold. The table’s clarity makes the contents and the room part of the design, changing with the day and with what is placed inside.
Materials & Build
The entire table is made from transparent extralight glass, tempered and glued. It is crisp in appearance, with a lighter, clearer look than standard glass. The construction is all about precision: edges align cleanly, and the geometry stays sharp.
At the center, the retaining basin is made watertight through a special gluing method. That detail is not decorative; it is what allows the basin to function confidently, without turning the piece into something precious or fussy. Seasons from glasitalia is also offered in a version with an inox stainless steel burner fueled by bioethanol.
Comfort of Use
This is a coffee table meant to be lived with. The double top creates a protected space where objects can be placed inside the table, visible but contained. Books, small sculptures, or found pieces can sit there without crowding the main surface. But the table still reads as light, thanks to the transparency.
The central basin shifts the experience. It can be used as a vase, a flower box, or even an aquarium, depending on the mood of the space. It’s a controlled focal point, not an add-on. And because it is integrated into the structure, it feels intentional from every angle.
Placement & Lifestyle
Seasons works best where the room has something to show. In a living area with strong rugs, distinctive flooring, or sculptural seating, the glass body lets those layers come through. It suits both pared-back interiors and more collected spaces, since it never competes with color or pattern.
It also supports different atmospheres. With water and greenery, it becomes quietly domestic. With the bioethanol burner option, it turns more ambient, especially in the evening. The piece is not available custom made, so the selection is straightforward and deliberate.
Longevity
Tempered glass is chosen for resilience in daily use, and the glued construction is engineered to hold its form over time. The idea is lasting clarity, not a finish that needs constant attention. It will show what it holds, and that is part of the point.
Because the design is so reduced, it stays relevant as rooms evolve. Furniture can change around it, objects can come and go, and Seasons remains the quiet constant in the center.
