Nacre

About Nacre

Design

Nacre is a low table with a fluid profile, drawn from the organic curve of an oyster shell. The silhouette stays soft, but it reads precise. An oval glass basin forms the base, and the top sits over it with a subtle circular fade that pulls the eye inward. The result is quiet, sculpted, and a little unexpected without trying too hard.

Designed by Yabu Pushelberg, the piece keeps its focus on proportion and surface. The transparent round area on the top is not a detail for detail’s sake; it’s the visual pause that lets the mirrored finish feel lighter.

Materials & build

The base is made from transparent extra-light glass, formed from a flat 0.47-inch slab that is moulded through a complex heat treatment, then trimmed around the perimeter to define the final shape. Underneath, a mirrored bottom adds depth and shifts with the room’s light, but it still lets the glass read clean.

The top is laminated glass with a mirror finish that fades in a circular pattern, emphasizing that clear round window. And for those who want more interaction, the top is also available with an opening set near the transparent area, giving access to the basin below.

Use and everyday comfort

This is not a table that asks for careful styling. It’s comfortable to live with because it’s straightforward: a generous surface, a stable basin beneath, and a low height that feels right with sofas and lounge chairs. At approximately 50.4 inches long, 36.2 inches wide, and 14.6 inches high, it holds its own in a seating area without taking over.

The optional opening changes the way the table works. It lets the inside of the basin become part of the room, used as a flower box, terrarium, or a place to store and display objects in plain sight.

Placement & lifestyle

Nacre suits interiors that like restraint but still want a focal point. The mirrored elements pick up nearby colors and movement, so it pairs well with both warm textiles and sharper architectural finishes. It works in minimal rooms, but it also adds clarity to spaces with more layered decor.

The quick ship configuration is NAC01 with the opening, a practical choice when the table is meant to do more than just hold a tray. Glasitalia keeps the offering focused, and this piece is not available custom made.

Longevity

Glass can feel delicate in the abstract, but here it’s treated as a serious structural material. The 0.47-inch formed base is substantial, and the laminated top is made for regular use. The finishes are designed to look intentional over time, not precious, and the concept stays relevant because the function is honest.
