About Alice

Design

Alice is a series of low tables designed by Jean-Marie Massaud. The form is clean and direct: a precise parallelepiped with sharp edges and calm proportions. Smoked glass gives the piece a darker presence, but it still reads light in the room. And because the volume is so simple, the details matter. The 45° joints are part of the look, not something to hide.

There are two sizes, each with the same clear attitude. One measures 23.6 inches by 23.6 inches, with a height of 10.6 inches. The other comes in at 19.7 inches by 19.7 inches, with a height of 17.7 inches. Both keep the silhouette compact and architectural.

Materials & build

The table is made in 6 mm tempered smoked glass, glued at 45° for crisp corners and a continuous line. Inside, a complex honeycomb structure sits within the volume. It adds visual depth through the tinted glass, so the table never feels flat or purely minimal.

Four small chromium-plated feet lift the body slightly off the floor. It is a subtle move, but it changes the whole stance. The table appears to hover, while the base keeps it neatly composed.

Comfort, in the everyday sense

Alice is not about softness. It is about ease. The top surface is open and uncomplicated, ready for books, a tray, or whatever ends up there in real life. The edges stay crisp, so the piece feels precise even when the room gets casual.

And the smoked finish helps. It is forgiving with visual clutter, letting objects sit on top without turning the whole table into a display case.

Placement & lifestyle

In a living room, Alice works best when it has space around it. The glass volume reads as a solid object, yet it doesn’t block the view the way a heavy wood table can. But it also holds its own next to upholstered seating, especially when the room leans quiet and tailored.

The two sizes allow for different moments: a lower, broader coffee-table presence, or a more upright companion near a sofa or lounge chair. Glasitalia keeps the offering focused, and Alice is not available custom made.

Longevity

Tempered glass is chosen for resilience, and the construction feels intentional. The honeycomb interior gives the piece character that doesn’t rely on trend. And the raised feet help protect the lower edges from daily contact with the floor.

Alice by Glasitalia is made to look sharp over time, as long as it is treated with the care any glass piece deserves.
