Design

Transformer is a collection of borosilicate glass vases by Piero Lissoni. The forms start clean and familiar—cylindrical and conical—then shift off course. Each piece is intentionally deformed in a casual, irregular way, so the outline never feels overly precise. And that’s the point: the silhouette stays simple, but the profile has movement.

The result is not a “perfect” object. It looks considered, yet slightly unpredictable, with small variations that catch the eye when light moves across the surface. Transformer reads as modern, but not cold. It has an ease to it that works in both quiet and expressive rooms.

Materials & build

Each vase is made in borosilicate glass, hand-produced so every example is a one-off and cannot be reproduced. That hand-made process is visible in the gentle distortions and subtle asymmetries. But it still feels intentional, never messy.

Glasitalia keeps the focus on the glass itself—clear, crisp, and refined. There’s no added decoration to distract from the shape. It’s simply the material, the form, and the irregularity that makes each piece its own.

These are pieces meant to be lived with, not handled like collectibles. The shapes feel familiar enough to style without overthinking, and the irregularity gives them character even when they’re empty. A single stem can look deliberate. A fuller arrangement looks relaxed.

The collection covers a range of proportions. Sizes include approximately Ø7.1″ × H11.8″ (TRN01), Ø9.1″ × H15.4″ (TRN01B), Ø8.7″ × H10.6″ (TRN02), Ø12.6″ × H15.4″ (TRN02B), Ø8.7″ × H10.2″ (TRN03), Ø13.0″ × H15.4″ (TRN03B), Ø9.1″ × H13.4″ (TRN04), and Ø6.7″ × H15.0″ (TRN05).

Placed alone, the taller pieces hold their own next to a console or reading chair. The lower options sit neatly on a coffee table or sideboard without blocking sightlines. Mixing two or three works well too, especially when the shapes echo but never match.

Longevity & availability

The appeal of Transformer is built into the making: each vase is unique by design, and that uniqueness doesn’t fade with trends. It stays relevant because it doesn’t try too hard. It’s simply a strong object in glass, with a human hand behind it.
