About Sturm Und Drang
Design
Sturm Und Drang is a mirror with a strong point of view. Designed by Piero Lissoni for glasitalia, it reads as architecture on the wall rather than a simple reflective surface. The frame is built from many distinct pieces, so the outline feels lively and sculpted without trying too hard.
There are two configurations, each with the same slender depth. The larger STU01 measures about 82.7 inches long, 7.9 inches deep, and 90.6 inches high. STU02 is more compact at roughly 59.1 inches long, 7.9 inches deep, and 59.1 inches high. Both give a room a clear focal point, just in different proportions.
Materials & build
The frame is made in Murano glass through a complex hand-made process. That matters here, because the surface has the subtle variation that only comes from hand work. And it also means each mirror is unique and effectively unrepeatable, even within the same configuration.
The frame is composed of separate elements that are fixed to a wall-hanging structure. A 5 mm chamfered mirror, about 0.2 inches thick, is then applied. The chamfer adds a crisp edge and helps the reflection feel finished, not harsh.
Comfort in use
A mirror has its own kind of comfort: how it treats light, how it treats the room, how it treats the person standing in front of it. Sturm Und Drang keeps the reflection clean, while the faceted, glass-framed perimeter softens the overall look.
An LED lighting system is available and it changes the experience. The light doesn’t compete with the glass; it brings it forward and makes the frame easier to read at night. But it still stays within the mirror’s clean, disciplined geometry.
Placement & lifestyle
Both sizes are designed for wall mounting, so they work best where they can breathe. In an entry, the mirror can handle daily traffic while still feeling considered. In a living space, it adds depth without adding visual noise.
STU02 suits tighter walls or layered gallery-style arrangements, while STU01 has the scale for larger rooms and longer sightlines. And for projects on a deadline, select quick-ship options are available, including STU01 and STU02 with light.
Longevity
The appeal here isn’t tied to a trend. It comes from real materials, a clear structure, and the way the frame is built piece by piece. The glass elements are made to be looked at up close, not just from across the room.
Sturm Und Drang is not available custom made, which keeps the design tightly controlled. It’s a decisive object from glasitalia, meant to stay relevant because it stays specific.
