About Shibam 2
Design
Shibam 2 reads as a totem, not just a mirror. Its proportions are tall and clean, with a strong vertical stance that feels intentional from every angle. And the lighting is part of the silhouette: red and white bulbs bring a graphic edge that’s more architectural than decorative.
The mirror surfaces on the front and sides are treated with thin white engravings that trace the full perimeter. The detail is quiet at first, then it catches the eye as the light shifts. It’s a controlled gesture, the kind that gives the piece its character without asking for attention.
Materials & Build
The lateral and frontal faces are mirrored, with the engravings partially decorating the surface rather than covering it. That restraint matters. It keeps the mirror useful and reflective, while still giving it a signature finish.
The base is matt polished absolute black granite. It’s dark, dense, and visually calm, grounding the vertical form and giving the piece a crisp contrast against the reflective body. Shibam 2 is not available custom made, so the design stays exactly as intended.
Light & Daily Use
The red and white bulbs change how the mirror lives in a room. They add a clear outline and a sense of presence, even when the mirror isn’t being used. But it doesn’t feel like a lamp. The light sits as an accent, framing the reflective surfaces and amplifying the engraved perimeter.
In use, it offers a full-height view, with a slim footprint that won’t dominate the floor. The reflection stays sharp, while the etched lines and colored bulbs give a little visual tension around the edges.
Placement & Lifestyle
At approximately 28.3 inches long, 12.6 inches wide, and 69.3 inches high, it fits naturally in an entryway, dressing area, or the end of a corridor that needs a focal point. It can stand alone, but it also pairs well with spare, curated surroundings where its geometry can read clearly.
As a piece from glasitalia and designed by Ettore Sottsass, it brings a distinct point of view to contemporary interiors. And it still works in more classic spaces, especially where the room could use something crisp and slightly unexpected.
Longevity
Mirror and granite are materials chosen for permanence, and both wear their age well when cared for. The engraved detailing is integrated into the surface, so it doesn’t rely on applied finishes that can peel or dull.
Shibam 2 is made to keep its look over time: reflective planes, defined edges, and a solid stone base that holds the composition steady year after year.
