About Settecento
Design
Settecento is a shaped crystal mirror designed by Alessandro Mendini. The outline is expressive without being loud, with a silhouette that feels intentionally drawn rather than simply framed. And the color work is what gives it its character: multicolored decorations that read as graphic, not fussy, bringing a controlled sense of play to the wall.
It’s the kind of piece that changes the mood of a room without asking for a redesign. But it still behaves like a mirror first. The reflection stays clear and useful, while the perimeter adds just enough visual rhythm to keep an empty wall from feeling unfinished.
Materials & Build
The mirror is made in crystal glass with decorative color detailing integrated into the design. The surface and edges are shaped, so it doesn’t rely on a separate, traditional frame to make its statement. That gives it a cleaner, more modern feel even when the palette leans warm.
It is not available custom made, which keeps the design true to its original proportions and color intent. The collection is offered in three finish combinations: green with light blue, ochre with brown, and gray with black. Each option shifts the tone of the room in a different way, from cool and airy to grounded and graphic.
Everyday Use
At 36.2 inches wide and 49.2 inches high, it reads generously on the wall and still works for daily routines. It gives enough height for a fuller view without feeling oversized in a typical interior. And because the decoration sits at the edge, the mirror remains practical rather than overly ornamental.
Placement & Lifestyle
This format suits spaces where a single, strong piece can anchor the room. It makes sense in an entry hall, above a console, or as a focal point in a living room where art and function overlap. In a bedroom, it can replace a conventional framed mirror and instantly bring more personality to the setting.
Settecento also pairs well with quieter materials. Think wood, stone, lacquer, or upholstered pieces in solid tones. The mirror’s color can echo nearby accents, or it can be the one moment of contrast that keeps the space from feeling too controlled.
Longevity
Because the design relies on proportion, glass, and a considered palette, it holds up beyond short-lived trends. The shaped crystal construction feels deliberate and resilient in presence, while the finish options let it adapt to different interiors over time. As part of glasitalia’s mirror offering, it’s a piece chosen to stay on the wall for years, not a seasonal swap.
